Retirement Eligibility
Amends the Public Employee Pension Forfeiture Act (Act 140 of 1978) to add to the criminal offenses that would require the forfeiture of benefits. The additional crimes would include the offense of (1) neglect of care-dependent person, (2) institutional sexual assault and (3) endangering welfare of children. The bill would also require, for all crimes enumerated under the act, the forfeiture of benefits upon (1) a plea of guilty or no contest or (2) a jury verdict or judicial order of guilty.
House Bill 526 is a re-introduction of House Bill 787 of the 2015-2016 Legislative Session, which was reported out of the House Judiciary Committee.
