Amends the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, in duties and powers of boards of school directors, providing for protection and defense of pupils. Amendment 06215, if adopted, would amend the Public School Employees' Retirement Code. A description of the amendment is included in the comments.
Amendment 06215 to Senate Bill 383, Printer’s Number 1034 amends 24 Pa.C.S. (Education) by adding Chapter 19, which authorizes the board of school directors in a school district to establish a policy permitting school personnel access to firearms in school buildings or on school grounds. The proposal also amends 24 Pa.C.S., Chapter 81 (the Public School Employees’ Retirement Code) to define the term “authorized school employee” (ASE) as an active member who is permitted to access firearms pursuant to Chapter 19. Service as an ASE could affect a member’s (1) basic contribution rate, (2) final average salary, (3) standard single life annuity, (4) superannuation, or normal retirement age and (5) eligibility for participation in a defined benefit plan.
