State Economic Comparison
September 30, 2014 | Economics and Other
This research brief uses Real GDP, Personal Income and Payroll Employment to compare economic performance in Pennsylvania to four adjacent states and the U.S. over the past decade.2 For the purpose of these comparisons, the Real GDP and Personal Income metrics are computed on a per capita basis. Therefore, the metrics control for the disparate population growth across states and the U.S. In general, stronger population growth will likely be associated with economies that exhibit greater economic expansion.
